"Oh that's all very well but..."

After a year of unannounced hiatus, I thought it best to start this up again. Whilst my rambles won't have perhaps the same popularity as they will elsewhere, this site seems the more formal of the two blogging platforms I currently operate on. But, I digress.

Throughout the internet, you may have noted, there are articles, posts, tweets, pictures - every possible media you could think of, in fact - ranting on and on about why everyone is selfish, selfish, selfish.
Why are we selfish?
"It's all very well you've broken up with your boyfriend. But it could be worse: there are children starving in Africa!"

Let me stop you right there.

There's a little thing that we all experience and fall victim to, dear friend, called perspective. Many will know exactly what I mean when I say this. It's your point of view, your experiences, your emotions, everything that makes up who you are.
So, what I am trying to say is, you perspective =/= the starving children in Africa.

Now, while it is terrible that there are people starving in the world, this person complaining about their recent break up is neither starving, nor a child in Africa (most likely), correct? Their perspective on their troubles means that they view it a terrible occurrence and are likely grieving or are in shock or they just need someone to listen to them. They do not want someone telling them to bugger off just because they're not in the worst possible condition they can be in and still be alive.

Please, never say this to anyone. They may not be dying now, but in worse-case scenarios, having no one to talk over stretches of time could lead to them feeling they are simply a nuisance and are not wanted. Possible depression. Et cetera.
Essentially what I am getting at here is: people can complain if they bloody well want to. And if you feel they don't have the right to, then neither do you, so you must never whine in you're caught in the rain with no umbrella.

Cheers.

I'M BLUE DA BA DE DABA DIE~

I wonder if you can tell that I've been listening to Eiffel 65's Blue over and over and over and ove- yeah, you can't tell.

So, I went to seen Paul today...
God I love it so much (*O*)
Then again, Simon Pegg is basically my god when it comes to comedy actors...
Any way, very funny...a lot of swearing. The ending WAS quite predictable, but to be honest I think that was the point. It made it funnier.
I also bought some new tops (and I totally didn't momentarily forget my card's pin number and come very close to getting it blocked >_<'). One of them is sort of lumberjack-style, the other has a print thingy on it. I'm not great at describing things that actually exist, I apologise >.>
And there were these awesome boots I wanted to get but, alas, they were too expensive. FOR ONCE I FOUND SHOES I LIKE! WITH HEELS! AND THEY WERE TOO EXP-gaaaaah.
Urgh...I'm gonna go sulk and eat some Tom Thumbs *shuffles away*

Bubble and Squeak

No, the title of this blog is not in any way related to this:

Despite the fact that it tastes goddamn awesome (in my opinion)

Nope, it was merely called thus because that is exactly what my diet-caffeine-free-coke was doing a couple of seconds ago: bubbling and squeaking.

...it was peculiar.

Life has been as uneventful as normal; I went to my grans' at the weekend. Guess what the highlight of that was? Starting and finishing Louis Sachar's Cardturner.

Cover-to-cover.

One day.

I just sat there and read it, pretty much none stop. It's pretty good considering the entire plot revolves around bridge. No, seriously.

Actually, if you have a card game obsession or just like reading anything, then I'd check it out. I knew next-to-nothing about bridge before reading, and I still found it very entertaining.

(though not it a edge-of-your-seat-what's-going-to-happen-holy-son-of-a-tart-EXPLOSIONS kind of way.)

Also, I'm still doodling (no suprises there). I'm attending a 3 hour manga drawing session this Saturday - it's been well over a year, maybe two, since I last went...I have improved a lot...

(The above were drawn in the last two days. They're are both WIPs...obviously)

Et voila! That is all I have to say!

I wish you fair well! Adieu! Auf Wiedersehen!

...

Did that sort of rhyme?

It a very special day today: Saturday

It only happens once a week, only 1/7 of your entire life will consist of Saturdays.

Which reminds me: If you were to live exactly 70 years, would you prefer a Saturday a week or 10 years of Saturdays all at once (you can choose when you have these of course).

I know what I'd choose (but I'm not telling you)

Anyhoo, due to me posting...well...not a lot recently, I guess quite a few uninteresting things have happened.

1) Regarding School

So I'm still in Year 10 (because despite gaining time travelling abilities for my 15th Birthday, it won't let me skip) and so several GCSE tests have come...and gone.

I recieved my mark for the 2 English assessment/essays I did ages ago: 19/20 and 20/20.

VICTORY!!!

Next we had two assessments centred around Blood Brothers by Willy Russell (which I went to see twice in preparation; it's awesome) The first was an essay I haven't got the marks back for and the second was a monologue assessment we wrote and performed based on the play: 15/16

Which reminds me, I need to add in the extra notes to my computer copy...

AND I got back my Biology 1 marks: 43/50 and 50/50, so A*

Urm...OH! And my French speaking assessment (which I was dreading so much you have no idea) which I got 18+/20. God I'm so pleeeeeased! (In last years specification that's an A*, but to be quite honest I'm quite happy getting an A, I'll know the mark for sure when the new spec. comes out).

ENOUGH BRAGGING! (Seriously, I am rather full of myself)

2) ULTRA SQUEE

I now possess the first season of the Hetalia dub on DVD.

Becka. Be jealous ;D

And I'm buying the next one once it comes out, although the release date seems to have changed to the 11/04 in the UK D:

I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL APRIL *ultra sad face*

3) My doodling obsessi- hobby.

I got a new doodle book on New Years day from my Grandad, and so far (pretty much all in class) I have filled 32/72 pages.

We are only 36 days into the year for Flying Mint Bunny's sake.

Oh, and did I mention most of those are Hetalia related?

'Cause they are.

AND THAT CONCLUDES MY NEWEST ENTRY.
I probably won't update all that often any more, but I'll make an attempt to post something good when I do!

Goodbyeeee!

You know what I hate? 2

Art tutorials are amazing - they start you on your way, give you the building blocks of a style, show you new techniques, allow you to improve old ones. But what I can not stand is when an art tutorial uses the words:
"Things to avoid"
"This isn't right"
"This isn't a great technique"
"If you draw ... like this you are limiting yourself/doing it wrong/being cliché etc."

DAMNIT ALL! Do you have ANY idea how degrading that is for an amateur artist who was only just deciding they were getting even half decent AND THEN TELLING THEY'VE BEEN DOING EVERYTHING WRONG THE ENTIRE TIME!

You know what, screw you.

I take critism very seriously, I do not throw hissy fits if someone points out "oh, that looks nice but shouldn't that look a bit more like this or that?"

But I don't care what you say, it isn't WRONG. It just isn't right.

Let me explain my rant: my self esteem can take serious blows when I find I'm wrong. I don't mean to blow my own trumpet, but I am used to being right, as it were. So when I am told by someone that what I have been doing for a long time is not right, I lose self confidence for quite a while.

*end rant*

Yeaaaaaah, sorry about that, but it was "let off some steam time"

Ta-ra!

I Would Have Said "Merry Christmas"...

...but I didn't, deal with it.

But I do hope you have a good New Year!

Yep, I just made an effort not really

Mein Gott! It's amazing!

It's the night before the night before Christmas and I've FINALLY finished cleaning my room.

It took all day. *tired*

And I think the dust inhalation has given me a cough...

Ah well, c'est la vie!
